Experience & service
A Career in Public Service
A Macon native, Moulton built his career through assignments in Missouri and Middle Georgia before becoming Houston County Sheriff.
1995 — A Beginning in Campus Policing
He began working in campus police while studying at College of the Ozarks in Missouri, then served with the Branson Police Department after graduation.
2000 — Warner Robins Police Department
He moved to Houston County and joined Warner Robins Police. Over 13 years, his assignments included patrol, narcotics investigations, supervision, and school resource duties.
2014 — Houston County Sheriff’s Office
After working at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center, he joined HCSO. His experience at the office included patrol and investigative work.
2024 — Investigative Leadership
He was promoted to captain over Criminal Investigations and was elected Sheriff later that year.
2025 — Sheriff of Houston County
Moulton began leading the office following the long tenure of Sheriff Cullen Talton.

Working With Our Community
Community partnerships connect residents with public-safety information and create additional support for the people and programs serving Houston County.
Family Violence Awareness
Moulton has worked with Macon Regional Crimestoppers on outreach and anonymous reporting related to family violence. In June 2026, the partners announced a crime-reporting app with family-violence reporting among its features.

Through the Houston County Sheriff’s Office Heroes Foundation, Moulton helps connect community support with equipment, training, officer safety, and professional-development needs.
Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes
Sheriff Moulton is hosting the 2026 Sheriff Cullen Talton Memorial Golf Tournament at Houston Lake Country Club to benefit the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes.
